The late David Lynch (Blue Velvet, Mulholland Drive) is the subject of this fascinating and resonant documentary; a portrait of the director as visual artist.
Narrated by Lynch himself (speaking into a vintage microphone from his painting studio in the Hollywood Hills) it takes us on a journey through his idyllic, small-town American childhood, awkward teens and time spent living the 'art life' in the dark streets of Philadelphia.
Recounting stories of his family, his anxieties and fears, David Lynch: The Art Life is an exquisitely textured and immersive portrait of an artist – one of the most entrancing and unpredictable filmmakers and storytellers of recent times – at work.
