In response to the advice from the UK Government regarding COVID-19 we are sorry to announce that from 5.00pm on Wednesday 4 November Towner Eastbourne will be temporarily closing to the public.

Please note, we will be open from 10.00am to 5.00pm this Tuesday and Wednesday (November 3 and 4)  with both exhibitions – Towner International and Art, Life and Us: Christine Binnie, Jennifer Binnie and the Towner Collection – open to enjoy and experience. Admission is free for both and our cafe and shop also remain open.

During our closure period, our exhibitions, cinema and events programme – both on- and off-site – will sadly not go ahead as planned. Whilst our building is closed, we remain committed to our role as a valuable community resource and we will explore ways to connect with and inspire everyone digitally. We encourage you to keep visiting our website and following our Instagram, Twitter and Facebook channels where we will provide updates and make new digital content – blogs, films and exhibition and Collection insights –  available as frequently as possible.

For now, we hope you enjoy this brand new resource created by artist Rita Evans, to further explore Towner International, following her sold-out workshops during half term.

Don’t forget that this Thursday the Film London Jarman Award shortlisted films – by Michelle Williams Gamaker, Hannah Quinlan and Rosie Hastings, Jenn Nkiru, Project Art Works, Larissa Sansour, and Andrea Luka Zimmerman – will be online as part of a special 12hr online screening, running 12.00pm to 12.00am. Joe Hill, Towner Director, will have conversations with shortlisted artists, Project Art Works. They will discuss Illuminating the Wilderness (2019) directed by Kate Adams and Tim Corrigan, and filmed on location with Ben Rivers, Margaret Salmon and neurodiverse artists and makers, families and carers. Join us by booking your free place here.

We will also continue to share updates via email and, if necessary, you can contact us on towner@townereastbourne.org.uk.

We thank you for your support and understanding and very much look forward to welcoming you back to Towner Eastbourne in the not-too-distant future.
