This week at Towner we have three exhibitions, plus three events including a free art drop in as part of the Big Draw.
The Future is Ours explores the universal themes of school and childhood through film and photograph, showing portraits of school children from 19 countries around the world. Germain spent 8 years documenting 461 school classrooms throughout Europe, Africa, Asia, South East Asia, Middle East and South America.
North to South presents selected paintings from the Towner Collection alongside highlights from the Aberdeen Art Gallery and Museums Collection.
Towner holds one of the largest public collections of works by Sussex artist Eric Ravilious (1903-1942). Our permanent Ravilious Room is a dedicated space to admire a selection of his finest watercolours, explore our unique archive and browse books on the artist.
WED 21 OCT – SUN 1 NOV | 10AM-5PM
SASBAH – the Sussex Association for Spina Bifida and Hydrocephalus – will celebrate its 50th birthday with an exhibition of members’ portraits by photographer Helen Tinner alongside original art work produced by members during creative workshops.
THU 22 OCT | 6-8PM
Artist June Nelson feeds back her experiences from the ENGAGE Summer School in Belfast including news of her visits to artist-led spaces in Derry Londonderry.
SAT 24 OCT | 11AM-4PM
Older and younger generations come together in this one-day workshop, through the sharing of personal stories and life experiences.
