Creative Kit Bags with the South Downs National Park

In response to COVID-19, Towner has partnered with the South Downs National Park on an exciting project that continues the success of our creative kit bags with a new series inspired by our local landscape.

Over 3 months of lockdown, we delivered 1000 kit bags to 540 households across Eastbourne, Hailsham and Seaford, working with 14 local community partners to reach individuals, families and groups, locally.

We commissioned artist-illustrator Somang Lee to design activities sheets themed around nature, the outdoors and the raw materials: Clay, Chalk, Water and Charcoal. Somang’s activity sheets use the South Downs National Park and artworks from the Towner collection to inspire experimenting and making with natural materials. Exploring natural cycles, environments and seasons, she encourages us to connect with nature and creativity, both indoors and out.

These sheets are available to download and print:

Winter: Charcoal & Water

Spring: Clay & Chalk

Summer: Salt & Pigment
Autumn: Colour & Shadows

These packs were made possible thanks to the generous support from South Downs National Park, John Jackson Charitable Trust and Sussex Community Foundation and many individual donors.
