As part of Towner’s Summer School, you are invited to use one of our ground floor studio spaces to develop your own artistic practice this summer.
The free, bookable studio spaces, available 30 July to 25 August on a first-come-first-served basis, are for anyone who would like to spend time concentrating on developing a piece of work or a portfolio. Each of the studios we have available can be booked by emerging or established artists or anyone with an interest in art who want to take advantage of using our gallery as a working space. They can be booked for any length of time from a day to a full week.
The studios will be open to the public, allowing the resident artists to discuss their work with visitors.
Summer School is part of Towner’s Art School and is open to all artists aged 18 and over. We have nine studio spaces available to allow artists and creatives to develop their practice in a quiet and concentrated way in a gallery setting with free access to staple materials, Wi-fi, an extensive programme of exhibitions as inspiration and our own Collection Library for research.

Alongside this, also in August, there will be a space in Towner’s studios for all visitors to take part in their own art experimentation. Co-designed by Towner and an artist-in-residence, a selection of materials will be available in the drop in space, and there will be workshops to be led by the artist-in-residence for audiences of all ages. Details for this will be available soon.
