Film: The Party

Janet (Kristen Scott Thomas) has just been appointed to a key ministerial position in the shadow cabinet, she and her husband Bill (Timothy Spall) invite a handful of friends over to celebrate but things go seriously awry when Bill makes an announcement that upends the whole affair.

From acclaimed British filmmaker Sally Potter and featuring a star-studded cast including Bruno Ganz, Cillian Murphy, Emily Mortimer, and Cherry Jones, The Party is not to be missed.

“Sally Potter’s 71-minute film The Party is a short, sharp, funny shock of a movie; a theatrical drawing-room comedy which plays out in real time with elegance and dispatch” – The Guardian

Women in Film
In the centenary year of the 1918 suffrage act, celebrating women’s voices has never been more important. With this in mind, we present a season dedicated entirely to women in film. All the films in this season are directed or co-directed by women, and most are female-focused in their narrative.
