Lucifer Rising

Ten years in the making, Lucifer Rising is the final instalment of Kenneth Anger’s Magick Lantern Cycle collection. Inspired by the writings of English occultist Aleister Crowley and sound-tracked by Bobby Beausoleil (of Manson Family fame), the film features appearances from Marianne Faithful and Led Zeppelin’s Jimmy Page.

In the Shadow of the Sun

Dir: Derek Jarman, 1981 (U) 54 mins

A series of super-8 films shot between 1972 and ’75 – superimposed, spliced together and blown up to 16mm – form the base for Jarman’s first lengthy film, sound-tracked by Throbbing Gristle.
