Towner are thrilled to be taking part in Eastbourne Pride (19–21 July)!

Kick off the weekend with special Pride-themed cocktails in our bar and a screening of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert, one of the most iconic queer classics of all time.

On Saturday we will be marching in the parade from Eastbourne Pier to Princes Park from 12 noon, and then will be in the midst of the festivities with a stall and art activities for everyone to take part in.

Then on Sunday you can settle in to enjoy a double bill of James Dean films: Rebel without a Cause and Come back to the Five and Dime, Jimmy Dean, Jimmy Dean. Over 60 years after his premature death in 1955, James Dean’s legacy endures. Hollywood pin-up, icon on teenage disillusionment, subject of fan obsession, gay, straight or bisexuals. Join us for an afternoon of exploration in association with the School of Media, Film and Music, University of Sussex.

Also on Sunday, at 11am and 4pm, we’ll be delving into the LGBTQ stories in our Collection, including artists in our anniversary exhibition, TEN, and behind the scenes in our Art Store. These free tours will be led by Jack Shoulder, our Acting Head of Learning, who also runs regular LGBTQ tours at the V&A.
