Holes (for Eric & Enid), 2019 is the result of Becky Beasley’s continued engagement with the structures, motifs and surfaces of Eric Ravilious’ watercolour The Bedstead, 1939, which sits in the Towner Collection. The original painting depicts a guesthouse interior in Le Havre, where Ravilious was confined during inclement weather. The guesthouse was later destroyed in a World War II bombing raid. Beasley has extracted a repeated wallpaper pattern of three dots from this interior to create unique hand printed images that are reminiscent of holes left behind by shrapnel.

Becky Beasley lives and works in St Leonards, East Sussex. Solo exhibitions and performances include Plan B Gallery, Berlin; Francesca Minini, Milan; 80WSE Gallery, New York; Towner Art Gallery, Eastbourne; SKUC Public Gallery, Ljubljana; South London Gallery, London; Leeds City Gallery, Leeds; Spike Island, Bristol; Serpentine Gallery Pavilion, London and Tate Britain, London.
