Learning Curator: Children and Young People
Closing Date: Monday 1 November 2021
Eastbourne is traditionally known for being a town with high numbers of older people. However, there is a large proportion of young families in Eastbourne and Towner’s programme for parents and under 4s has been oversubscribed. Eastbourne is surprisingly disparate economically with 4 LSOAs (Lower Layer Super Output Areas) in the most deprived 10% nationally, and 2 LSOAs in the least deprived 10% nationally. Eastbourne is relatively more deprived in 2020 than it was recorded to be in 2015.
At the same time Towner Eastbourne is growing in visibility and recognition in the arts and museum world: in 2020 Towner won Museum of the Year and recently we hit 20,000 followers on social media. Since Lockdown there has been increased relocation of artists into East Sussex so it’s an important time to be developing practice with the most innovative artists in this field of work.
