If you’re planning a trip to Towner with your family this May bank holiday, why not help your children get the most out of your visit by bringing them along  to one of our creative workshops?

Each season, we programme a series of creative workshops and drop-in sessions designed especially for families and children.

These sessions create a fun environment for your child to explore new artistic techniques, led and encouraged by one of our team of resident Artist Educators. Our educators – artists themselves – come from a variety of creative backgrounds and work alongside our friendly Gallery Assistants to deliver the sessions.

This May half term our creative workshop, Looking into Landscape, uses the Richard Billingham Panoramic exhibition as a starting point for participants to create their own piece of landscape art.

Artist Lindsey Smith will introduce techniques of photomontage and show how playing with scale and composition can bring new life to your landscape.

Also available as part of our half term activites, Moving Buildings is an informal drop-in session on Monday 25 May.

Join artist Annis Joslin and create a growing landscape of your own mini-buildings, which will feature in an animation shown in the gallery and online later that week. Make sure to visit our Annual Schools exhibition on the ground floor for some colourful inspiration.
