Annual Schools Exhibition
Our Annual Schools Exhibition is one of the UK’s largest displays of children’s art work. This year, we are excited to be taking the exhibition on the road as part of Eastbourne Sunshine Carnival, which is taking place on 27 May over the Bank Holiday weekend.
The theme for our 2017 project is the Pattern of Friendship and we are drawing inspiration from four works by Eric Ravilious from Towner’s collection:
- Eric Ravilious, Six Cups: Designs for Wedgewood, 1937
- Eric Ravilious, Maria and Clown, 1931
- Eric Ravilious, Ribbon Rosette Design, 1935
- Eric Ravilious, Manor Gardens (1927)
We are working with Same Sky to run free workshops in primary and secondary schools across East Sussex to create a Ravilious inspired carnival display, which will include artwork from over 1,500 children and and young people.
Same Sky is the largest community arts charity in the South East. Their portfolio includes projects large and small and everything from street parades to water-based theatre, carnivals to choreography; sculpture trails to fire and light spectaculars.
Join us as we parade from the Western Lawns to Princes park starting at 2pm on Saturday 27 May. Our exhibition Ravilious & Co: The Pattern of Friendship opens on the same day.
