Towner’s award-winning learning programme delivers great art and culture to a wide range of people in a variety of settings.
Working in classroom, our gallery, dedicated workshop spaces, out in the community and beyond, our learning programme reaches over 5,000 people yearly and is recognised regionally, nationally and internationally as a model of best practice.
Key to our successful approach is partnership working, with partners such as:
- community groups
- youth projects
- cultural organisations
- health care providers
Our projects are closely linked to our exhibitions programme and our renowned Collection. They are delivered by a team of specialist arts practitioners who bring a wealth of talents and skills including visual arts, design, film, digital media, performance, graffiti, audio, photography and printmaking. Each project is tailored to meet the needs of those participating, whether delivering learning or social outcomes.
Our commitment to learning and participation is publicly visible, with the results often on display in the gallery itself. To date, more than 7,000 young people have exhibited their art work in Towner, and we also facilitate several community exhibitions yearly. These displays form an important part of our exhibition programme and are a key facet of our visitor experience.
