Closing Date: Monday 20 June 2016
Towner is an award winning art gallery, showcasing artists of national and international significance and presenting works from our acclaimed collection.
Towner has been selected to be one of four Arts Council Collection’s National Partners. This three year programme allows partner galleries to curate exhibitions from the Arts Council Collection (ACC): the UK’s most widely seen collection of modern and contemporary art with over 1,800,000 visitors in 2015. The other national partners include Walker Art Gallery Liverpool, Birmingham Museums Trust and Yorkshire Sculpture Park.
We are currently seeking an experienced Assistant Curator to support the Head of Exhibitions in the development and delivery of eight exhibitions and associated programmes from the Arts Council Collection between October 2016 and March 2019. The successful candidate will have excellent project management skills and a proven track record in assisting with the delivery of successful exhibitions to an international standard. They will display a commitment to learning and engagement within galleries and an understanding of the needs of diverse audiences. An excellent knowledge of contemporary and modern art and of the national and international visual arts sector and networks is essential, as is a proven track record in fostering effective partnerships with stakeholders, artists and the wider arts sector.
