The Nightmare Before Christmas

Jack Skellington, Pumpkin King, stands on an outcrop in front of the Moon.

The Nightmare Before Christmas may have been directed by Henry Selick (Coraline, James and the Giant Peach), it originally sprung from the mind of Tim Burton, who conceived and produced the film, bringing his signature style to the film in bucket loads.

The film, scored by Danny Elfman, follows the story of Jack Skellington, beloved Pumpkin King of Halloweentown, who, after growing tired of the annual scares of Halloween, is delighted to stumble across the bright lights of Christmastown. Setting out to cause chaos and gain control of the winter holiday, he plans to kidnap Santa Claus and take on the role himself with disastrous results.
