Blue Monkey Network
Introducing… Jenny Arran
We’re very pleased to welcome artist Jenny Arran to Blue Monkey Network this month to talk to us about her busy practice as an artist and artist/educator.
Having grown up in North Wales, the physical intensity and wildness of the landscape and her own deep sense of connection to it has always shaped Jenny’s work. She studied Sculpture at Brighton University (1995-1998), and then an MA in Fine Art at the Slade School of Art, UCL in 2001 and since then has worked as a Museum Display Designer, trained as a Forest School Teacher and can thatch a roof. She worked for several years building reconstruction Bronze Age and Saxon buildings and teaching Historic crafts.
Jenny is currently artist in residence with Towner’s Learning team, designing and leading workshops in response to Towner’s collection and exhibitions. As part of this she is also running a series of courses as part of Sussex NHS Partnership Trust’s Discovery & Recovery College, in collaboration with their Peer Mentors & Trainers. She is working on a project looking at emotional responses to artworks, researching a criteria for selecting artworks from a collection to elicit emotional responses and piloting a project to develop a range of therapeutic tools using works from the collection.
