Brighton Rock

Simmering with violence, Brighton Rock concerns itself not with cheery holiday makers but the sinister underbelly of the seaside town between the wars. One of the greatest British films ever made, the film is based on the Grahame Greene novel, and co-written by the author himself with playwright Terence Rattigan. After murdering an ex-member, teenage gang leader Pinkie Brown (Richard Attenborough in arguably his finest performance) realises his alibi is compromised by Rose (Carol Marsh), a young waitress in a local tearoom.
