Alternative Viewpoints with Jarvis Brand

Each month join contemporary thinkers, creative practitioners, experts from beyond the gallery walls and members of our Learning programme in an exhibition experience with a difference.

Unravel the science behind the phenomenon of light and explore the astronomical in the next in our series of Alternative Viewpoints with Jarvis Brand from the Observatory Science Centre, Herstmonceaux, taking a scientific look at light in key works in A Certain Kind of Light.

Jarvis graduated in Computer Science, Physics and Astrophysics from the University of Birmingham and further degrees in education from the University of Brighton. Jarvis then worked in computational research for Nirex and research in medical computing for the University of Birmingham before returning to his first subject of space science. Jarvis now runs the planetarium for the Observatory Science Centre and specialise in science educational outreach to schools and colleges in the local area.
