Outreach & participation
Towner’s award-winning participation programmes use the resources of our building, exhibitions and permanent collection to provide inspirational and inclusive learning opportunities for the community – both within and outside the building.
In particular Towner works intensively with small groups of young people and adults to tackle problems at an individual level, problems which may have contributed towards offending, health inequality or substance misuse.
The success of Towner’s participation programme is built upon strong partnership working. This is underpinned by a strong commitment to testing and evidencing practice, and aligning activities with the strategies of our partners.
Some of our current projects include:
- Generate – a new project for and by young people
- Open Ended – for people with memory problems and their carers
- Arts Break – an exciting new arts project for children and teenagers with disabilities.
Eastbourne Borough Council was awarded Beacon status for Culture and Sport for Hard to Reach groups, as a direct result of Towner’s work with the most disadvantaged groups in society.
