On Bank Holiday Monday 28 August, celebrate friendship with Towner Art Gallery at a free picnic in Eastbourne’s Manor Gardens surrounded by spaces that the town’s most celebrated artist Eric Ravilious loved to paint and draw.

Make friends, meet locally based artists and take part in a whole host of fun creative activities. Try your hand at making letter press posters with artist and printmaker Pea Crabtree, contribute to a giant friendship bracelet and do some crafting with Sustainable Starfish, including making sparkly wild flower seed balls and friendship bracelets to take home. There’ll also be face painting, music and singing with Octopus Inc., yoga with a creative twist with Holly Tree Yoga and a friendship themed adventure trail.

The Friendship Picnic is for all ages, open to everyone and will take place from 1pm to 3pm. All you need to bring are a picnic, a blanket, friends and family. The event is weather dependent so keep an eye on our website for updates on the day.

The event is inspired by themes in our current exhibition Ravilious & Co: The Pattern of Friendship which continues until 17 September.
