Volunteering

towner-173

All year round, we welcome applications for volunteers at Towner. If you are interested in art and looking to gain knowledge, we are able to offer a wide range of experiences, from assisting our technicians with installations to interacting with our visitors.

Benefits of volunteering include:

Please see below for our current opportunities:

Installation Volunteers

We are currently offering the experience to volunteer with our installation team for two forthcoming shows, offering the exciting opportunity to work alongside technicians, artists and curators. This would suit people looking to progress into a career in the arts sector, and gain insights into exhibition installation. We would like our volunteers to participate for two days per week, and in future there may be the potential for employment as part of Towner’s technical staff.

United Visual Artists: Vanishing Point Exhibition, 7 – 11 April, 2014

You will be preparing our exhibition gallery for laser installations, including construction, painting and floor prep. As heavy lifting is required, steel toe cap boots will be compulsory.

Annual Schools Exhibition, 28 April – 2 May, 2014

You will be working with Towner’s technical team installing a show of work by 50 local schools in our exhibition hall. This experience will cover all aspects of hanging artwork and some audio-visual elements.

To apply for an installation volunteer position:

Please email matt.barker@eastbourne.gov.uk including your availability during these periods and why you feel suited for this volunteering role.
