Funding from the Arts Council for Towner’s new auditorium
Posted on 15/02/2016
We are delighted to announce that we have been awarded £450,000 through the Art Council England’s Small Capital Grant programme to build an auditorium in part of the ground floor gallery. This is fantastic news and will be incredible asset for both the gallery and Eastbourne.
Having a state of the art, fully accessible auditorium with double our current capacity and allow us to deliver a richer and more diverse programme including more talks, film screenings and live performances.
As the first partners in Art Fund’s Moving Image Fund, it will also allow us to screen some of the acquisitions and develop a year round programme focused on artists’ moving image, which has moved from the margins to the centre of contemporary art over the past decade.
For more information on the award see http://www.artscouncil.org.uk/news/arts-council-news/108-million-awarded-through-small-capital-programm/.
The project has also received generous support from Eastbourne Arts Circle and will be completed by March 2017.
